City of Tolleson: 2025 Pavement Surface Treatment Project

The City of Tolleson is committed to preserving and enhancing our roadways. To extend the lifespan and durability of our streets, we are launching a five-year Pavement Surface Treatment Project starting in January 2025. This initiative will address streets in our local residential areas, beginning with the historic sections of the city and progressing to newer developments.

For the first year, work will focus on north-south streets from 96th Avenue to 91st Avenue and Harrison Street to Roosevelt Street. 

The project will be conducted in three phases:

• Phase One: Crack Sealing (January 6–24, 2025)
  We will seal cracks wider than ¼ inch using a quick-setting rubber sealant. This treatment prevents further damage by blocking moisture and debris while reinforcing the road’s integrity.
• Phase Two: Slurry Seal Application (March 3–14, 2025)
  Following proper curing of the sealant, we will apply Polymer Modified Slurry, a thin layer of liquefied asphalt mixed with graded aggregate and cement. This treatment enhances the road's durability and aesthetics, with a typical lifespan of 10–15 years.
• Phase Three: Repainting and Markers (April 2025)
  Approximately 30 days after the slurry seal application, we will repaint road markings, such as speed hump stripes and crosswalks, and reinstall raised pavement markers (e.g., blue markers near fire hydrants).

What You Need to Know

Closer to the start of the project, residents will receive notifications with detailed information on street closures, parking restrictions, work hours, and contact details. We kindly ask all community members to respect parking restrictions, adhere to posted signage, and avoid work zones during the project. Please note that the City and its contractor cannot accept responsibility for tracking surface materials onto personal property such as vehicles, driveways, or clothing.
