Safe Streets and Roads for All

The City of Tolleson (City) has obtained a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP) grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The goal of a CSAP is to develop a holistic, well-defined strategy to substantially reduce and eventually prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries within the City, focused on all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, and commercial vehicle operators.

The City of Tolleson (City) has obtained a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP) grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The goal of a CSAP is to develop a holistic, well-defined strategy to substantially reduce and eventually prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries within the City, focused on all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, and commercial vehicle operators. 

The Comprehensive Safety Action Plan will:

  • Analyze safety needs
  • Identify high-risk locations and factors contributing to crashes
  • Prioritize strategies to address needed safety improvements

This plan will be developed using inclusive and representative processes and will identify and address concerns in under served communities. To learn more about these requirements, visit: https://www.transportation.gov/grants/SS4A 

The CSAP study area includes all vehicular roadways within the City limits. The Interstate-10 within the City limits are managed by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and are not included in this study.

Project Schedule

The CSAP planning process began in August 2024 and is expected to be completed in March 2025. There will be two major opportunities for public involvement:
