December in Tolleson: A Month of Giving
As we ring in the New Year, we want to take a moment to reflect in the joyous events that took place in December. December was a month when various department were able to organize events to ensure that Tolleson residents were able to celebrate this holiday season.
Tolleson Police Toy Drive sponsored by W Steven Martin Blue Santa Toy Drive.
This December, the Tolleson Police Department shopped for seven families. After carefully selecting the toys for each child in the family, police staff (officers, dispatchers, admin staff, detectives, supervisors etc.) all participated with shopping, wrapping, and delivering toys to each family. “We (Tolleson Police) are truly honored to participate every year with this annual event that helps keep the police department positively connected with our community.” Shared Police Officer, Chris Medaglia.
Santa Visits Tolleson
This year, the Park and Recreation Center staff looked for safe ways to celebrate with the community this holiday season and what better way to do that then to bring Santa drive thru style.
On December 10th, Santa along with Tolleson Center staff offered stockings to children from the elementary schools in Tolleson and to those children that take part in after school programming at the center. Nearly 500 participants took part in this wonderful event. Parks and Recreation Director, John Paul Lopez shared, "It truly was an exciting event to be a part of, the smiles of our community children when they received their stocking/santa hat with goodies from Santa were indeed priceless"
