[ARCHIVED] Tolleson Reopens in Phases Because Community Health Matters

City of Tolleson Transition Plan Highlights

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Tolleson began to take a data-driven approach when addressing the closure and reopening of city facilities. Currently the City’s transition plan focuses on vaccination availability and percentages of the general population that have been vaccinated. Health care professionals are recommending gradual phase out of restrictions until the state is 60% vaccinated.

At this time, the City is in Phase One in which the city facilities are closed and services are provided virtually. Phase Two of the transition plan shall activate when employees are fully vaccinated and/or qualify for vaccination. In this phase public facilities will begin to open with limited capacity while observing social distancing practices and other special accommodations as recommended by the CDC. As vaccinations are underway and percentages remain under the recommended 60% of the state’s population, masks will be required in all city facilities throughout Phase Two. Phase Three shall activate once a significant percentage of the state’s general population has been vaccinated. This percentage will be based on recommendations from the CDC and other health officials. When this phase is activated public facilities will be fully open with CDC guidelines in place. Fluctuation of viral positivity rates could result in a return to a previous phase. Each department will modify its service delivery based on the unique circumstances of services and programs.

After evaluation of current COVID positivity rates, the City is excited to announce that multiple community parks will reopen on Cesar Chavez Day, Wednesday, March 31st. These parks and facilities will reopen while following CDC guidelines:

 McNeel Park  801 N 95th Ave

Community Garden Park 91st Ave and Fillmore Street

Paseo de Luces Central Plaza 9251 W. Van Buren Street

Tolleson High School District Recreational Courts 95th Ave and Van Buren Street

Due to the fact that Tolleson Veterans Park is currently being utilized by Embry Womens Health as a COVID testing site this park playground will remain closed.
