PepsiCo Rolling Remembrance Relay

In honor of Veterans Day, the City of Tolleson would like to highlight one of our amazing business partners, PepsiCo. For the past six years PepsiCo has completed a “Rolling Remembrance” relay dedicated to help raise awareness of and funds for Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, an organization that provides college scholarships and educational counseling to children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. This relay began in New York on October 3rd and ends today on Veterans Day back at the PepsiCo headquarters in Purchase, New York.

Part of this relay consisted of a stop in Tolleson. During this stop, Council Member Jimmy Davis alongside Tolleson Fire, Tolleson Police, and Local VFW Post 6310 members were able to take part of this amazing cause. Before leaving Tolleson the “Rolling Remembrance” truck made a stop at the Tolleson High School Old Main where Tolleson Union High School ROTC students came out to join all those present.

Approximately 25,000 children have lost a parent in military service over the last 35 years. To date through the Rolling Remembrance efforts, PepsiCo has raised approximately $860,000 to provide college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.  Through scholarships and educational counseling, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation helps to bridge the average $25,000 gap between government assistance programs and the cost of a four-year degree that scholars face.
