Questions Answers
How can I get a library card? A free library card is available to all Maricopa County residents with photo ID along with proof of current address (utility bill, postmarked mail, or current car registration). Non-Maricopa County residents may also obtain a library card for $28 a year with ID and proof of address. 
Can anyone in my family use my card? Anyone can use your card with your permission. We do encourage all family members to obtain their own library card. Be sure to report a lost or stolen card immediately. 
Where can I use my library card? Your card is valid at the Tolleson Public Library only. Your library card allows home access to the Tolleson Public Library online catalog, research databases, Overdrive e-books, Freegal music downloads and Zinio e-magazines. 
How does a minor get a library card? A parent or legal guardian must present a photo ID with a current piece of mail - such as a utility bill- (postmarked within the last 90 days) with their current name and address to register for a library card for a minor (children under 18). Both parent and child must be present in order to register for a library card.  
Do I need a library card to use the Internet? Your library card allows you free access to the Internet at the library. Non-Maricopa County residents and individuals without a Tolleson Public Library card may obtain a one-day pass for $1. 
How do I replace a library card? You can replace a library card by showing photo ID and paying a $2 replacement card fee. Minors under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present with photo ID to replace a card. 
How many items can I check out? A total of thirty (30) items can be checked out at one time, which includes a maximum of five DVDs per household.  
How long can I keep items? Regular books and audio books are loaned out for a twenty-one day period. DVDs can be checked out for seven days.  
How do I put books on hold? You can reserve a book on our website through our online catalog. You can also call the library to place a hold at 623 936 2746. You will be notified when an item is ready for pick up. The item will be held for 7 days.  
How do I return items? You can return you items inside the library during library hours or you can use our outside book drop 24 hours a day.  
What if you don’t have the book I want? Items not available through the Tolleson Public Library can be requested through our Interlibrary Loan Service. There is no fee for requesting items through Interlibrary Loan unless required by the lending library. DVDs are not available through Interlibrary Loan. 
What should I do if my card is lost or stolen? Report the loss immediately to prevent unwanted charges on your account. You can replace your library card by showing photo ID and paying a $2 replacement card fee. 
What if my address or phone number has changed? Please notify the library as soon as possible if your address, telephone number or email address has changed. All library accounts are updated annually, at which time proof of address is provided and contact information is verified. 
How do I access my online account? To access an account online, click My Account in the top right-hand corner of any page on the library website. You will then need to enter your library card number and password to log in. 
Will you let me know if my items are late? When you check out your materials, you will get a receipt with the items and due dates listed. You will be notified by mail if your materials are overdue, or you can opt for advance notice of upcoming return dates via email or text message by asking library staff to activate this service in your library account.
