Randy Babchuk was named the Field Operations Director in early 2023, currently, Randy is responsible for the City of Tolleson’s Aquatics, Grounds, Facilities, Fleet, Parks, Streets, Traffic Operations, and Transit. The department also support the City’s many events, including the community’s fight against COVID-19.
Before moving over to Field Operations in 2020, Randy joined the City of Tolleson in 2010 as the Events Coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department, where he later became the Parks and Recreation Manager. Areas of responsibility while in the Parks and Recreation Department included Youth and Teen Programming, Special Events, Adult Programming, After School, and creating the Summer Program at PH Gonzales.
Randy holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems. Randy started his public servant career with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department in 1999. Here he worked in the South district and worked his way to the Central Division where he was at Steele Indian School Park Coordinating events and park activities. In 2007 Randy pursued an opportunity with the Town of Buckeye. There, he was in charge of the Aquatics Facility, youth and adult sports, events, and marketing.
Creating meaningful and impactful relationships to create a stronger sense of community for the City of Tolleson Residents and surrounding communities is what being a public servant means to Randy. He is a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child, from the Library to the Police department and everything else in between, we all have a civic responsibility to provide opportunities and spaces for our residents and youth to be successful.
